Title: Operation Skint Balls
Post by: dandelO on February 24, 2011, 08:02:51 PM
...Reports of a balding, sun-burnt creature making it's way across the desert have been coming in from a bus load of tourists. Unable to give further description, use extreme caution, subject may be dangerous. This operation is classified and should be kept out of the media spotlight until, if and when, the subject can be identified. We don't want another 'situation', like that Roswell fuckaree in the 50's. Bring 'im in. Alive, if possible...

Probably my last stint in this desert, I'm just getting into too much bother here...

My post work skills aren't too great. So, if you'd prefer, here's the main render without any postwork. The Jeep was rendered in a separate pass. The windshield dusting and rear view mirror reflection was also just post worked in.

Cheers for looking!

* Oh! Replacing the alpine fractal(like I posted in the file sharing section) with a power fractal has taken the average render time down for these scenes(in this daylight setting) from 1hr30mins, to 55 minutes, on my dual core machine. I haven't tried another twilight one yet. This one is slightly smaller in px but it's still certainly much quicker.

Cheers, Bob. :)

Here's a funny thing I should've posted at first here; The reason I had to comp' in the Jeep interior from a separate render was because even when it was moving in perfect sync with the camera, the motion blur was still stretching the object to bits. I don't remember having this problem before, is there something I'm missing now, anyone?

And cheers to you friend. But, concerning your question; sorry, I'm as dumb as a stump when it come to TG2 advice.

Wow! That's actually 3 renders posted by me in as many days. I'm usually too busy dicking around with sliders and settings, making presets and shaders, or something, for weeks on end. Too bad they're all the same scene! ::)
Still, I'm happy and surprised at myself.

Onward and upward Martin; enthusiasm will prevail with successes.

I've been working on a collab with my friend Markal. I was inspired to do something after seeing Dune's Aurora. Shared what I came up with with him; and, the rest turned into a project. Render time should take us into the next century; but, we think you guys will find it interesting.

I look forward to it. I'd imagine your terrain and ground work would go great with Markal's out-there atmospherics! Roll on the year 2100!

I am glad you did these renders and shared the terrain. I picked up some information. Thanks.

A very straight looking stretch of road. Makes me wonder why there is no passing in this area, indicated by the
double yellow line ? Must be due to the high risk of running down disoriented, penniless, naked strangers.   ;)

Or, simply because I'm completely ignorant of American road markings and didn't know what double yellow lines meant. ;)
I just copied some Google images.

Here(UK), by the way, double yellow lines means no parking.

good thing its not dandelO's operation sweaty balls, wouldn't want to see that on the road. :D

personally, i like the second version, the one that has a pov outside of the vehicle, the vehicle is'nt detailed enough compared to the rest of the render.
