messing around with auroras again, I think this came out pretty good, luck of a random seed :)

I lost the cool aurora, tried and tried to draw it back the same shape and random seed it.
These I rendered yesterday after many attempts. Edited in photoshop to get the glow more pronounced using the curves tool

I like the upper one, really good. You'd only have to get rid of the grain... keep 'm coming!

its an upside down plane object the size of the sky to the horizon set the same altitude as a cirrus layer, let the preview render to 80 pause it, then using paint shader, draw the pattern in the sky, blend it to density fractal of the cirrus, unpause, disable plane, play around with stretch noise, warp, depth and density etc.
Then over to photoshop and edit with curves to make the aurora shine
