Title: To staff crash report bug report
Post by: TheBadger on May 17, 2011, 09:25:04 PM
To Staff

Hello,
After stopping a painting session and proceeding to render, Terrragen crashed. Terregen crashes every time now when I try to do a small render of this file, when the file is open my mac becomes sluggish.

I have a crash report I can send. Need this fixed fast!

Thank you

That sounds like a fairly well-known Painted Shader issue. Your Painted Shader data has likely become corrupted. Unfortunately the only way to resolve it is to delete the Painted Shader data that's causing the problem and start over with that painting session. We're working on long-term stability improvements to the Painted Shader but a quick fix isn't possible at this point.

heres some advice which has helped me-
when i use the painted shader a lot in a project i make incremental saves, usually after every successful painted shader session i will make an incremental save, that way if it crashes, later onm i can just go back to a previous version of the Tgd

Thank you, I went and looked at other threads dealing with this subject since you mentioned it. I have to say searching the threads was not my first thought. It was more panic.

So I will try to paint in layers, and save like you say.
