Hey, everyone.
I'm trying to make a skybox, but I have trouble rendering the top image. Every other side aligns perfectly with no visible seams but the top side is darker then the orhers.
I've made some other "test" skyboxes a few days ago just to make sure that everything will be fine when I do the final thing. The weird thing with this one is that I have a planet close to the upper seam. Out of curiosity I raised the planet so it shows up in both images to make sure the cameras are all alligned (and they did) but I noticed that the color difference is smaller but still visible.
Could you help me to get to the bottom of this? Thanks in advance!
Turn off GI and use fill lights.
How are you doing your renders? are you using overlapping images or just covering the 90 degrees?
You should check this out if you already havent http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=11608.0
Thanks for your replies
@TheBlackHole
Turning off the GI didn't help much, but I turned off the enviormental light alltogether and the color difference did go away. however I kinda need that so I'll have to find another solution.
@freelancah
I'm just covering the needed 90 degrees, I read the older version of that skybox tutorial, but I was hoping that I could fix this somehow. overlapping my images would require an extra step , not to mention I'll have to increase the resolution and later on I'll need to render many skyboxes in a row. But if that's the only way I'll have to go with it.
Turning off the enviro light IS part of disabling GI.
You can use GI prepass padding, but it will add significant amount of rendertime.
Try a value of 0.5 and see if it works.
Also, if you render them with GI prepass padding then it might help to use a bit higher GI sample quality, say 4 or 5.
Thanks for clearing that up.
It does seem better in this low quality render i just made. I'll have to do a full render to see.
Fill lights can be used instead of GI and they don't cause color differences at all.

Yes you're right, but he replyed to your first post that he needed envirolight/GI.
I'll see if fill lights rise up to my needs so I can cut down on render time but thanks for all of your help. It works like a charm. :)
