Title: Highlands
Post by: choronr on June 25, 2011, 03:31:19 AM
A view of a mountain top somewhere in the imagination. Elements used are:

•   Hero Rocks/ from NWDA Stones pack by FrankB.
•   Grasses/from NWDA.
•   Dry Grass patch from an old acquaintance.
•   Fir Trees/ XFrog.
•   Walli's Dry Shrubs #7/from NWDA.
•   Mouse Ear by Walli (flowers re-colored)/from NWDA.
•   Terrain Heightfield created in TG2.

Enjoy,

Bob

nice render! Did you recolor the mouseear directly in Terragen?

Thank you Walli; yes, I re-colored the flowers while in Terragen using two of the color/textures I have in my file. I do this often to try and obtain a better color to suit the composition.

Awesome image.
I am working on a similar image now. It occurred to me to add some color/s to Marc Gebhart's trees. EIther by changing the image maps or adding power fractal color.

Wonderfully natural looking scene, nice plant variety. It seems a bit dark to me, that would be my only complaint (underexposed).

Thanks Oshyan; and, thank you all. I agree about the underexposed - should have increased sun strength.

If you saved as an EXR you could easily just increase exposure in Photoshop, or even try tone mapping.

Thank you very much for the tip Oshyan, I will try this a little later today.

Today, it will be 115 degrees outdoors. I'm now trying to undo a bad pool chemistry situation ...this is driving me nuts!

This is a truly magnificent render, Bob. Very photographic. I particularly like the rocks, with the small glints. Excellent.

Thanks Ulco. I think increasing the sun strength and improving population rotation (as suggested by others) would have made it better.

Thank you Frank. Those Hero rocks really come in handy for accentuating the landscape. With having a good arsenal of color/texture maps the possibilities are unlimited.
