when you have this window open, you can see the coordinates of where your mouse is pointing in the preview window

open that window and roll your cursor into the preview window and the Preview Location window will update the co-ordinates/distance according to your cursor

New feature but I don't really get it. You can already see your cursor position in the info bar below the preview window. It would be useful if you could lock the values in the Preview Location window so they stay fixed whilst you use them to set values in shaders etc.

It's a small step forward on the road to making the UI more customizable so you can drag tools and palettes around to multiple monitors for example. It's not very useful now, but will be much more so as other things get customizable.

Sounds very promising.
