Title: Restricting Height
Post by: cbalaskas on April 06, 2007, 11:52:29 AM
Hello again, noob me again to ask another question.

I am using the redirect function and getting some cool results with outcrops and such. I can't seem to figure out how to restrict the effect to certain slopes or altitudes. Is this possible using a Power Fractal?

Thanks for any help.

You should use a surface layer with slope and/or altitude constraints as your blendshader.

he mean to say...use distribution shader as blending shader...

Ah, yes, distribution shader could work as well.  However, I have used a Surface Layer for just this purpose for some of my projects.

Uh..So distribution shader > power fractal > redirect shader?

no...you plugin the distribution shader in to the shader you want to restrict

Yes, plugging the Distribution Shader into the Blend Shdaer input of the Power Fractal that is providing the displacement to the Redirect would work. Make sure Blend by Shader is enabled as well.
