while looking for information about canyon color formation, i came across these 2 sites. the first is a color swatch site which has various colors and their RGB settings. the second is a site of kaleidoscope canyon

David, I have the terrain file ready for you. I made a long note about how I made the Terrain. It describes the various nodes in the Terrain group. I kept it very simple, but it's quite effective. About two more hours on the render and I'll post it in the file sharing area.
