Title: Valley+road+river
Post by: Dune on August 29, 2011, 10:45:47 AM
It still needs a lot of work, but the basis is there. All warped simple shapes. I don't really like the eroded valley walls yet; too rough IMO. What else can I say, they're just fractals and redirects. Never mind the image title, it started out as a test for grasses, as always.

All in All, this is an Excellent start!

Widened the valley.

I really like this, so many details, the creek running through the valley, a road - great work. Not sure , but I think I would try to clump the trees a bit more. Will you keep the dry land around the valley?

Some trees or shrub on the higher grounds may do it good, indeed. And you're right about the clumping too. At first I had the trees follow the waterline (by subtracting the water's SSS with a widened version of itself), but I widened it and left it at that. I don't want too many trees either or you'll lose sight on the meandering river and road. There's room for a lot more things, like some fields and ruins or a little village. We'll see....

Sure admire your work; always great perspective to view with splendid details. I agree about the veggie clumping; but know you will address that. Would like to see the chopper in a little closer.

Thanks, Bob. For your sake, I instructed the pilot to come a little closer  ;)
I usually render at detail 0.5 and AA4 at screen size for test renders, but I think I'll change that to a smaller size and detail 0.6 and AA6, as the render looks much finer (logically). Takes a longer time, though. This one took 3.5 hours (soft shadows on at 0.8 and samples 3), GI 2/2.

This is really nice one, the ruin is great addition and fits well on the scene.

Great. Are those fractal ruins blended by an image? That's very cool. :)

Very excellent! I have wanted to see higher settings used in your work for some time.

I'm always impressed by your work particularly like the water.

Looking so real; this reminds me of some places in southeastern Utah - Blanding, Utah in fact. If you ever visit the states, I'll take you up there. The best ever of red rock country. Google it and you'll see. Thanks for the inspiration - must get working on something like this.
