Title: Hello to the Community!
Post by: Ealianis on September 02, 2011, 11:38:50 AM
Just wanted to introduce my self to the community.

I am a web applications developer and part time designer; looking to expand my knowledge in programs to help create beautiful art that can be implemented into my designs.

I am currently trying to learn Terragen but have many questions to ask and hope I am able to get some quick help as I am in the middle of a project that requires a program like Terragen.

So if anyone could take the time to answer some basic questions and help remove my Terragen ignorance.

As for the project I am working on it requires a hard perspective to gain (or so I have been unable to achieve in Terragen 2. As you can see here (ignore the background and 3d props). http://freelancah.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2jir3e

I can not for the life of me achieve clouds that are of this size? Can this be in part due to the size of my planet being to large? Every render I make makes the "clouds" small dots in comparison to the size of the hemisphere.

Any tips, pointers, links, tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

Your scales are likely just too small... Maybe this helps? http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=11655.msg118271#msg118271

Thats pretty cool freelancah! Some one was surfing the net, ran into your work, was inspired by it, and then gets you as the responder! :) 8) :D I ones ran into one of my favorite comic book artists, he lived right down the street, he kept me in free comic books all through 7th and 8th grade. A great guy.

Some people still use Terragen Classic either because it has a much simpler (but more restricted, less capable) interface, or because it renders comparatively fast (even without multithreading). What you can achieve with Terragen 2 is far beyond what is possible with Terragen Classic though.
