Title: Snowy Sunrise + v2
Post by: dandelO on September 04, 2011, 12:39:49 PM
Simple as hell but I like the colours.

Too large to post HQ.png and compressed .jpg has bad colour banding.

Moody and subtle - great combination

I like it! But wouldn't hurt to have just a little bit more going on in the image: a little bush somewhere, or a handful of stones... something.
However, it's also sweet as pure as it is, so never mind :)

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks for the comments! :)

Here's a new, more vibrant version of this, with a bit of a more interesting sky and also some sparkle to the snow. :)

Thanks, TheOne.

I wonder if you could show us your Terragen technique? You have very good advice on how everyone should improve their images, tell me more about how to make my images better with Terragen please, I love to learn.
Maybe you have made some images to show what sort of level we should be aiming for to meet your approval?

Ah. I should maybe have said; 'Maximum quality jpeg conversion/compression of the image produced colour banding', if that would make the picture better.

I do know how to compress an image properly, I just rather wouldn't if it makes the image suffer. This one did suffer due to the empty sky gradient, when compressed to .jpg, being banded.

I not be meaning compression quality, but weather it is 4:4:4  or 4:2:2 and progressive or optimized, you can make less big and save detail if is set
also is option of lossless jpg and will make look like original
I was am hoping you not upset with forum I think is ok to give thoughts to try to help make work better easier for people.

I see this: Share your Terragen images and galleries and view and critique the work of others. in the forum title and was am thinking is ok
no one is expert by self, but we all together are expert if all share

@ TheOne: I understand you don't mean it negatively, but there have been others in this forum who were (they're off now, luckily). People tend to get pissed if they receive only negative criticism. Why don't you mix it with some nice, positive thoughts about how someone achieved what he/she did. It's hard enough. People take it more lightly if an advanced TG2'er  has 'negative' criticism than someone not working in TG2, if you get my point.

Its funny that he gets "and", but not "it" while using "is". If you understand what I am talking about you know more than one language.
