You have been inspired by Battlefield 3. Good, it's an awesome looking game.

The One, napalm will burn on anything. It's gel and gasoline; almost impossible to extinguish.

yes is benzene, gasoline and polystyrene, called super-napalm, NP2, or Incendergel but why would be wasted on burning nothing? is used in wet growth area to make fire in trees that not burn by selves, but nothing is here to burn. that is all was meant by it

Quotereminds me of somone
You're right  :D :D :D

@ TheOne: as you may have read in the initial post, it's a WIP. And who knows what's behind that barren rock? It might be someone's hideout  ;)

I would like to add a positive comment, while I'm here. I think the smoke looks very good already. So, a large render with less grain and finalized stuff on the ground (trees?) will be awesome I foresee.

@Dune: thanks! Exactly what I think about the image. I can't work on this for a few days, but will come back to it. Im actually happy about a few "details": the plume starts narrow and low to the ground, and becomes larger as it ascends. There are some soft shapes in the mix, but generally the plume loses density as it travels to the right. The less dense parts also "hang" lower to the ground. Just as it should be.

@TheOne: you are making assumptions about things that you can't see from this POV, and somehow you make yourself think this is the only valid assumption. As Dune has proven, you don't even see what's behind the island. Maybe another island? A hideout? A bay with a harbor? Secondly you wouldn't necessarily see the fires that cause the plume. And in daylight you wouldn't see the flames illuminate the higher altitude parts of the plume. Lastly thanks for liking the image, although I'm puzzled as to why it makes you smile or find it funny.

Best regards,
Frank

...

Indeed, I was. But also BC2 had awesome matte backgrounds with huge smoke plumes in the distance.

Really want to see this animated. Just a still camera, with the plume rising
Also, what does WIP stand for? I mean I get what it is, but what are the words being abbreviated?

Why, no. It's a deliberate artistic composition they way it is. I suggest you try this yourself and then compose it to your liking. I'm sure it's going to be great ;)

I like the smoke in this image, but on a note about the delivery aircraft for that package (USAF Terminology) that is a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft (1964-1998) that aircraft had no weapons capability: nice image mind.

Regards to you.

He could throw a B2 Stealth Bomber in there if there are any models available on the internet somewhere. Then he could carpet bomb the holy crap out of the terrain.    ;D

hang in there, until I make it a complete scene! This is more a POC than anything so far.
It will be a few more days before an update though...

nice interpretation, too ;)

No, POC stands for "proof of concept". It's a term that's used a lot in my work environment, and I forgot that it probably won't translate to everyone, my apologies. ... but it's a handy little abbreviation.

Cheers,
