tweaked version of my previous post....(cow skull from www.Artec3d.com, klas's tree, lightning's grasses and mr lamppost's bushes - thanks!)
gamma corrected exr in ps/jpegged....thanks for dropping by!
It's nice but I don't "buy" the rocks, Jason ;)
They don't look like rocks, more like piles of mud that have dried out. I think I can nail it down to that the slope of there sides is too uniform. I think additional pan cake effect and tallness will help here. Some color variation will improve them further.
I also like the cirrus!
cheers,
Frank
cheers Frank...I never really understood (or experimented) much about the "pancake effect"...I will re-jig the (bigger) stones some for the next scene...I am getting some progress with a method of colouring the stones, but it is not perfect (yet!)... again, just too subtle!!!
I may have to go back to the drawing board!
one shader set for the general rock surface(s) with a simple modifier for single or groups of stones??
don't really know yet...
I will keep you posted!
:)
edit:
btw glad you liked the cirrus!!!
if I get around to it I may post a clipfile...after the weekend...
:)
Nice picture,
But I wonder if it wouldn't look better with the skull more on the right (or left), I mean not aligned with the tree as it is.
Else I agree with Frank about rocks/stones
luc
thanks Lukas and Luc, I agree, maybe the placement of the skull is 'too' contrived?
I thought about it on the right hand side, but the rock shadows were in the way....maybe I will return to this...
cheers

for anyone that might be interested, here is a clip file that I used to create the clouds in this image:

thanks The One!
the skull model was not 'made' as such, but scanned with a 3D scanner, check the original link in my first post....
