Title: Giant scale map (different planets)
Post by: Slowriot on October 21, 2011, 02:45:54 PM
Hello everyone, I wanted to reach out to the community to help me figure this out.

We are creating a truly unique take on digital comics and in order to do so we are using Terragen for some very interesting animations and environments.

If there is a tutorial available that explains how I can make multiple planets and animate the transition from one to another I would very much appreciate it.

thank you so much for your time!

Are you planning to make the planets by spherical image maps or procedurally? Anyhow one solution would be to use a bunch of merge shaders to drive the transition from planet to another..

I had planned to do it with procedures, but it's just not something I've had any experience with. I was really just hoping there was a how-to guide of sorts available. :)

naive of me. hahaha

Okay... Here's an example how I would do it...  Run the timeline from 0-66 frames and you will see how the planet changes color and  same thing works for displacement, alltho I have none here.. It's a rough setup but the idea should work on more complex systems
