Title: Help making islands/fjords?
Post by: snake_eyes on November 27, 2011, 02:15:31 AM
Hey there, I am pretty new to Terragen and am pretty sure I am missing a crucial step somewhere.

I'm trying to achieve the effect of fjords, or some kind of bunches of islands grouped together and very steep, almost cliff-like.  This is a good example of what I am trying to make: http://i.imgur.com/a0YOD.gif

I am creating a terrain and putting part of it under water to get islands.  What I am finding is that if I make the islands tall, they become spiky...and if I make them rounded, they are too fat and are spaced too far apart.  I don't think I understand where in Terragen I have the best control over these landform characteristics.  If anyone has some advice, I would really appreciate it!

Welcome to the forum. Try this for a start. Play with the blender settings and other settings until you got what you need. You may need some redirect to get them steeper... (edit) so I added some.

thanks for your quick help!  I am getting somewhere with this file.  It is good to have something to start out with that is close to what I am looking for and so I will keep playing around with the file.

Hi Mate

How is you work progressing on the Fjords?

I'm also new to T2 and would like to learn this technique also, If you would like to work together on this I'd be willing to help!

Cheers
