Title: Communications
Post by: mesocyclone on March 02, 2012, 09:04:41 AM
Just an attempt on an old idea...
C&C welcome

354 samples for that big cloud, Detail 0.7, RTA on and still grainy...

Samples tell nothing. What's the quality level of the cloud?

1.25 for the background clouds, 1.0 for the foreground clouds.

Hmmm...curious...what's the AA level and number of atmosphere samples?

AA = 3 (max)
Rendering a crop now with 32 atmosphere samples, background cloud quality 1.75 and still getting grain.

Will raise atmosphere samples to 64 and do a crop render right now to see the results...

Ah right, I see, you're using the free version. Well, what happens if you disable RTA? I suppose it gives even more grain but I bet it's faster.

I do like the concept, despite any technical issues you are currently having.

I don't think you need more atmo samples here, I'd dial that back to 16 or 24, keep RTA, and keep increasing cloud samples until you get rid of the noise. I'm curious likewise if RTA off is faster than on, for equivalent noise level.
