Title: Exo-desert
Post by: RichTwo on April 05, 2012, 11:17:37 AM
This is the same .tgd I used for my previous renders, just tweaked a bunch of times to get what I wanted.  The lumpy texture is dandelO's 10 Metre Cracks which received an adjustment to the color-adjust shader.  The planet is from my Planet Creator with a few tweaks there as well.  Pardon if you will the neon red clouds.  They're an experiment of mine.  Thanks for any suggestions!

Woah! That's a bold choice of colours, Rich! I'm never confident enough to go all out with an overly bright rock colour, this one is still a bit too bright and contrasty for my taste but I do like the plateau effect you have going on the cut-off peaks and the step levels of the terrain forms. The cracks seem to be doing the opposite of their desired function in parts(raising the cells, instead of lowering their borders), is that intentional? :)

Yes, intentional.   I moved the sliders on the color adjust so the black was a medium grey and the white a lighter grey - left the color clamps on.  I experiment a lot.  Yeah, it's contrast-y all right.  I tend to stay toward the boring side when choosing colors, I thought I'd step outside my little box...

Some more good test Rich2. I think the colors alone are fine, but to me they seem very saturated. If you bring the sat down everything will blend better?
