Cheers for looking!
Great render Martin!
Are the objects from Nasa?
The moon surface looks real... The image looks real :)
The objects are from the 3D Warehouse, Kadri. :) http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/
Thanks :)
So you've been there too, huh? Moon travel is hot nowadays ;) It has a very realistic feel to especially by the cross-haires (cross hares). May I bother you with a little comment? The tiny fake stones are a bit too upright, as if they are stretched by the lack of gravity (which may well be possible).
very realistic !
Agree with Seth! excellent work!
Love this Martin. You have done a great job on the moon surface.
fanastic work DanelO!
quite realistic. :)
the truth behind this so called render (the conspiracy) is that it was never rendered, DandelO when to the moon in secret and took the photo with his camera.
dont be fooled!
For close up astronaut shots(post some later), I have my own NASA logo that I've used a few times before sewn into the suit. I've also replaced the Stars and Stripes with a Saltire. :)
This is a really great image, you've got an excellent moon surface going on. I agree that some of the stones are a bit too tall/pointy/upright, but otherwise it's extremely realistic. Is the Earth just an image map/texture? I suspect so. But well integrated anyway (though apparently the real Earth from the moon looks rather darker:

Looking forward to more.

Very good Martin, this one is inspirational.
Thanks. :)
Here's another.

Nice render :)
Maybe a texture-surface (small bolds etc.) on the top parts on the lunar lander would be good too Martin?
Looks as good as NASA could do.
The close up of the astronaut and lander are super. Maybe a bit of some small dust clouds behind his feet?

I guess you have to have Sketchup in order to use the model and convert it into an .obj?
very good!

Is this correct?
I think so; and, I think you need the 'pro' version of Sketchup.

I have the free version from a while back. hmmm? When I have some extra time I'll check for my self... But when martin reads this, hope he he will tell us how he did it.
Not sure, but you might be able to get the trial version free for a short time - then, try to download the astronaut (or any other model). Not sure you can convert the Sketchup file to an .obj file with the pro version.
For a while you could freely use Babel 3D to convert skp into obj. But the obj's sometimes have endless lists of items.
Yes, the pro version has exporters for 3D models but you can also download various 3rd party exporter plugins compatible with the free version (https://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=object+exporter+sketchup&oq=object+exporter+sketchup&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_l=igoogle.3...132.4634.0.5205.14.5.0.9.9.0.183.588.1j4.5.0...0.0.).
The .obj exporters I've tried are buggy and output broken models many times. I export as .3ds out from Sketchup and convert with Carrara or Poseray, both make TG friendly objects.
Sometimes you will also find Collada files alongside the .skp models for download, if that's the case, just get them, most 3D applications will use this format directly.
