Title: Canyon project
Post by: cbalaskas on May 01, 2007, 08:20:07 PM
Been messing with the "procedural canyon" node that was posted on here a while ago. The canyon wall itself does not use the strata and outcrops shader, rather a power fractal stretched horizontally giving more extreme overhangs. The scene still needs more tweaking and color fixes. These images were post-processed in Photoshop.

Close up of the canyon walls with only the stretched powerfractal displacement.

I really like the second image.  You've achieved some very realistic results here!  I think your terrain in the first post is stellar, and some work on the textures and the addition of some desert plants could make it one of the most realistic I've ever seen.  Also, if you're feeling generous, a .tgd is always nice to study from ;).

Both images are pretty cool.  They both remind me of pictures I've seen of Arizona.
