Post by: Redwolf on May 28, 2012, 07:03:33 AM
Not been in here for a while, so here's my latest render. Testing the bracken model, before I leave it go for downloading, still unsure if it looks realistic or not, but distant views works good

AA 12 1/64 samples Render time 2 hours

All other models by me

(dont know what this end of inline expandable thumbnail option is all about...ill soon find out :)_)[attach=1][attachimg=1][attach=1]

excuse me? it took 2 hours to render and whats more it looks like a scene from outside my window, except for the firs, well if you think its awful so does everyone else, at least you came clean about it, will try another render later

Your excused, and sorry about your slow machine, I do like your funny avatar though!

I dont know if you guys are just having fun with each other or not, but I don't think its bad.
I rather like the cascading mountain side.
I'm thinking the reason there are only two plant types is because you wanted to test the plant from every angle at every distance?
I m sure this scene will look great when you have diversified the plant population.

If you want an opinion on the plant, please post a close up of it. Just the plant with no other visual information will do. I would like to see more of peoples objects rendered in tg2.

that man/woman is rather rude...slow machine indeed!

I was testing out the object, looks like its a good ground cover, (mountainsides around here are plastered with these) but perhaps for close up shots ill either need to find a better leaf texture or redo the model

I find it very interesting as I haven't had a lot of luck with the fern model. Perhaps some colour variation would give a little more interest and maybe slightly less density and more size variation?

Redwolf,

Take a look at this website:
http://mayang.com/textures/
You can download up to 20 images a day for free. There is NO limit on the use of the images. You may use them for privet or public use, including for $profit.
You can even give the images away, but you can not sell them as is.

Go to "plants", click "Leaves"

May be of help.

I have made worse renders. ;)
I like the terrain very much. Just a little work with some power fractals and distribution shaders, and this could be awesome. I would keep working on this one. There is a lot a potential.

Nothing more to add here other than I think this looks excellent for just a test for your model! ;)

As already mentioned this has a lot of potential for being a gorgeous scene and I'd like to see any future updates if you carry on with it 'as-is'.
