Title: Starkness
Post by: choronr on May 30, 2012, 12:35:43 AM
Its been awhile. Two medical issues successful and behind me; and, formatted the hard drive which went smoother than expected. All this helped to get the enthusiasm back.

Glad you are feeling better and I really like your pic. Formatting is always scary..............

Good to see you back with a great picture, Bob. It would be great if we humans could format our bodies for a fresh start, wouldn't it?
Formatting is scary indeed, but gives a fresh and clean feeling. I have made myself a checklist that I follow, and now made an image of the brand new setup partitions if it ever fails again (and it will, no doubt).
Regarding your terrain, I like it, the calcareous soil. Maybe a little banding in there, like old ocean sediment?

Thank you both for your visit. I think that banding is due to an image map I used. Low coverage and high fuzzy still lets some banding creep it.

Wow, what a way to come back! Grandiose render, indeed.

Hey Bob, I didn't mean there's banding in there, I meant to add some banding like layers of sediment in the calcareous layer. It won't need it, it's great as it is, but it's just an idea....

Thanks otakar, I think this setup with a different POV may turn out some good results. I may put the .tgd up on file sharing.

Hey Ulco, that's a good idea. I will see if I can accomplish that. Thanks.

Your last few renders have gotten more and more realistic.
This one is the best in that respect. There are some parts of this that if a crop was made and printed, everyone would think its a photo, as it here, moest people could be fooled by the rocks.

Nice one.

Thanks Badger, the .tgd (less the vegetation) is available on File sharing if you care to give it a try. I believe there are a number of good POVs there to be discovered.
