The rookery on Lake Jalamon. For future note, may not be a good base camp.
We had hopes of an easy climb and plenty of eggs for breakfast, but the "birds" have proved to be some species of large Bat.
So no eggs this morning, just these odd weeping cuts behind our ears...

Great story, great image too! Love the giant rock, are the bats a population?

:)
Thanks,
Bats are a population. Only one wing position is rather unlikely for bats but
these guys are posing as vultures I guess.
The foreground rocks have some great details to them, they look like they could be real. But there looks like there is some twist to the strata of the monolith rock, that takes away from the believability. *to me*
I like the idea and story.
Agree with Badger. Try to get rid of the strange displacements at the rock's base and it's great.
Thanks for the comments.
I'll have to try to make that abnormal shelf area in the lower left render with a more natural look.
I did at one time think of just fixing it in post but it is strange how you can get concerned about some
other small detail and forget something relatively big.
The upper levels are pretty much as I wanted them, trying to emulate some weaker, flawed or softer veins of rock that
have crumbled and eroded more quickly, but maybe it looks more like soil erosion than rock erosion.
Beauty. Those foreground boulders are excellent. Are they fake rocks shader or individual rocks?
James
Thanks,
All are fake rocks, except the monolith which is a reverse crater.
You can observe the fake rocks take on more strata as they get closer to the stratified monolith.
Much credit to Chinaski for his excellent tips on rock work.
And credit to Luc Bianco for his excellent tips on clouds.
Very nice rock!
Nice rocks :-)
