Title: Please use the wiki for all new content
Post by: Oshyan on July 15, 2012, 10:08:20 PM
Now that we have a user-editable wiki, please make use of that system for creating any new tutorials. You may link to your wiki content here as a reference. The wiki can be found here: http://planetside.co.uk/wiki/

Your forum login and password should work to access the wiki.

The long-term goal is to move all content that is here in the forums into the wiki, so if you have previously created a tutorial in the forums, please transfer it to the wiki when you can.

Problem is many of the user contributed tutorials on the wiki page lead to blank pages!

as an example, the making of wilderness.

Then the links should be updated or removed. The wiki is user-editable for exactly these kinds of needs. If you find something that needs fixing, please take a moment and do so. Much appreciated. :)

Cool, didn't know I could edit the content.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi,

I have for the first time checked out the wiki and it looks quite good. I also understand that all the guides must have taken hundreds, if not thousands, of man hours.
But wouldn't the wiki benefit from having a part for beginners, one for advanced and one for masters?

Everyone that use TG2 knows about the steep learning curve but a beginner doesn't. And starting to read the wiki as a beginner can't be fun.

Just a thought.

Kind regards

I am well aware that this is an old thread, but ... being a vivid guide writer myself I couldn't resist..

Is this still something you guys prefer or have you changed the rules in the mean time?  I mean, there's also a certain risk if you give newly registered users full access "just like that". For the record: I just tried to log onto the wiki out of curiosity, which didn't work (no complaints here, IMO that's a good thing!).

But that also brings me to... are there still sections you guys need / want working on?  At the time of writing I'm using the free edition of TerraGen in anticipation to nab a full license within the upcoming month(s), so if there's something I can help with in regards to documentation... I'd be more than happy to.

Meanwhile I already have a few plans of my own... including a "getting started guide" which will be more geared towards Daz Studio users; right now my plan is to post that on Reddit; but I'd be more than happy to share with you guys as well if you think this could be useful.

Hi ShelLuser, welcome to Terragen.  We're glad you're enjoying the software.

The wiki page online documentation has gone through major updates in terms of feature and parameter descriptions and examples since the 2013 post just before your observations and questions above.

In the past couple of years several users have posted fairly in-depth guides regarding their discoveries and workflow in Terragen right here on the forums.  I would encourage you to do the same.  If you develop a good workflow between Daz Studio and Terragen and write something up, please feel free to share it here.
