Title: Ringed
Post by: Mahnmut on August 04, 2012, 11:26:17 AM
I still can´t use the colour menu due to some problem with my stupid laptop, so I returned to using imagemaps.
The map for the gasgiant ist a photo I took of the evening sky two days ago, unchanged colourwise, I only added some swirls and changed the aspect ratio.
The map for the green moon  is my trusted green mars again.
This image is obviously inspired by Avatar, also by the great images of the cassini mission, although I can´t match either.

C&C are welcome as always , I may well make some more versions of this, the rings can definitely use more detail.
Best Regards,
Jan

Glad you like it.
But I only got the free version.
Anyway, I fear I wouldn´t find the time to make an animation of this. Moving through the scene wouldn´t be so hard, but making all the little rocks spin in a realistic way seems quite a task to me.
And as the texture of the Planet is a photo of the evening sky, it would be hard to animate too, although one could animate the cloudlayer above and leave the "deeper layers" in place.
Well, this will have to wait till I solve my graphics card issues, and then I can ponder buyng the full version.
Thanks for your Interest!
Best Regards
Jan
