Title: AOV render passes in future release?
Post by: JasonA on August 17, 2012, 07:27:05 PM
Hi guys,

Is there any consideration on your development roadmap to have terragen 2 support AOV render passes in a future release?

It depends exactly what you mean by AOV. If you mean various render elements such as diffuse, specular, GI, depth, atmosphere, clouds, etc., then the answer is yes, in a future version of Terragen. "Render Elements" is a feature that I'm currently developing to be released in future. However, if you mean truly arbitrary output variables where you can assign custom attributes/variables to output elements (where the original term AOV came from), then I don't have a solution to that yet but it might be a possible feature in future.

Thanks Matt,

Render Elements are the nutshell of what I was hoping for, but I figured talking about the arbitrary outputs would also include custom buffers which a user could define through a shader network or whatnot.   Still though even the basic render elements would be great to have for compositing workflow so I'm excited to hear it!
