Title: Misty one
Post by: Red Eyed Jedi on October 10, 2012, 04:51:17 PM
Put this together using one of dandelo's cloud clip files I think(?) Not happy with how dark the trees look so will have a look at that at some point.

C&C welcome

Hi red eye.

I like this image! The only things I would change is the surface of the water. Its too rough here. You may be working from a source image that has turbulent waters, but if so I would break away from that in this case. There is a great opportunity here for you to do some fantastic reflections!
Consider these instructions: part 1: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs5/i/2004/272/3/0/TG___Mirror_FX_Tutorial_Pt__1_by_Blackheart6004.jpg
Part2: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs5/i/2004/274/f/8/TG___Mirror_FX_Tutorial_Pt__2_by_Blackheart6004.jpg

Also, if your able. I would change out the trees. they work fine in the background, but in the foreground left, they are not working at all.

Nice so far. Keep going! And the trees are not to dark at all for this shot. I would even think about clipping some spots to true black for more depth and drama.

Thanks for the tips - I'll definitely take a look at calming the waters a bit and maybe push the trees back a little and see if that helps for a start. It'll have to wait 'til I get home as I just got into work :(

Cheers  :)

Yep, problem is the waves actually make the trees look out of proportion.

Ok so in this version I've calmed  the waters and moved the trees away from the foreground which has shown up some more detail on the ground - I have somehow lost the low level mist/fog (that'll teach me to save incrementally) but maybe that's not such a bad thing as it would hide some reflections.

Couple of compression issues with this image but the original .bmp looks fine.

I'm still not done with this one yet  :)

Much better. I feel the scale better now that I can see the terrain a little. But a few trees would be nice too. Good work.
