Title: hazardous landscapes(TGD)
Post by: Zairyn Arsyn on November 14, 2012, 11:15:40 AM
been working on this since last week.

this is based off a previous project that has gone through multiple iterations, going back at least 3 years now.
with new features added to TG2 and new shared terrain clip files available, i've come back to it once again and seeing what interesting terrains i can get.

comments & critiques welcome.

I rather like these. A good ice surface setup working in some of them. And very interesting terrain forms.

4th iteration, more on the way, tomorrow.
it starts to get more dangerous in this version, sharp rock formations!

i had to build a observation deck to avoid seriously injuring myself.

the original is 2880x1440pix

Comments & Critiques quite welcomed.

it might be a surprise, but on the previous iterations (excluding the first) the ice surface layer had neither a reflective or lambert shader, just regular surface layer with luminosity turned on.

5th iteration
this version has a reflection shader
the next iteration should have smaller more jagged details.

detail 0.8
AA 7
1hr 28min 12sec
10,911,528 micro triangles

C&C welcomed

Now I understand. :o
If that terrain is luminous, its even more hazardous than I thought!
The only thing I would change in the later ones is the size of the clouds, they seem strangely small to me. But its supposedto be a strange place. so what.

i am preparing clip files that i will share, so bear with me.

here is a iteration of this scene that has similar displacements from the last few renders, some changes t

i can upload more when i get home

the node network is a bit messy, there are extra unplugged nodes lying around, some surfaces have been disabled.

experiment & tweak nodes with this one and see what you can come up with.
