Yes, the immediate foreground is extremely photo like, in clarity. Usually a terragen2 image looks more real the further from the camera, but this image has a reverse effect. How and why is this happening? Or am I just seeing things?

What plants are you using in the foreground, the ones with the big broad leafs? they look nice.

I used detail 0.8 and AA 16 on this. I also changed the pixel noise threshold to 0.0125 (render setting) That is how I was able to get the sharpness.

The plants are Walli's. The grasses are his dry grass and rye grass. The other foreground plants are from his weed pack. The fall tree is his new Gnarly Popular. The Pines are from his Pine Trees bundle, and the bushes are from his dry shrubs pack.

Nice image! I'll have to try those render settings. Are the 'patches' without forest cover on the hillsides meant to be places clear-cut from logging? Once again, well done.

I was going for a look of farms, but the farms have not been maintained in several years.

Indeed, nice details/sharpness in here!

Can you tell us/me how long the final render needed?
I ask because i red/seen some time ago something interesting about a possible render time sink with even good results for pictures:

Maximized up to "doubled" resolutions with lower settings (D 0.6, AA 4 Full, PNT 0.02-0.05 max. maybe in your case Henry) with post sharpened and reduced image size to final size

vs.

Aimed final size render with very time consumptive high settings


Of course, all will be depending on the scene/complexity itself i guess.
Could be an interesting challange, which i cant test yet because of my own spare knowlege of complex scenes of TG and software restrictions atm.

Does you, Henry, or anyone else have collected some experiences with that or is a thread out there facing that theme, i did not found till yet?

Hey Henry, you changed your forum name. What happened to Njeneb?

Nice image you made again. I like the patchy woods effect, and of course the whole scene. One little thing if you want my humble opinion; through the foreground veggies there is ground cover that is not 'finished'. I'd put more grasses in, maybe even the internal grass, or make it rough ground.

Bjur, this to about a day and 1/2 to render. I used four threads on an I7 2600K.
It us hard to say 'use these render settings'. The scene actually determines what settings are needed. I used to cheat with Lightwave (1992) by render larger images then image processing them to broadcast resolution.

Dune, the ground/ground cover is how the field I walked through looked. The dirt was smooth. I really don't like the small fake stones however. It seems I have forgotten how they work...:(
