Title: Hyperion
Post by: TheBlackHole on December 19, 2012, 09:38:36 PM
Was trying to make an asteroid, but the displacements turned out more like Hyperion. The craters are some layered voronoi with a color adjustment, a few power fractals, and a compute normal because normally this kind of setup produces broken displacements around the edges of the craters.

Looks pretty good. The only thing that I would add is sometig to give a sense of scale.

I'd love to, but TG2 just crashed and I forgot to save. I'll try recreating it (hopefully I still have some nodes copied) but it probably won't look anything like this. :(

OK, so my attempt to recreate these displacements turned out as just a normal asteroid. The moon has the same terrain as the asteroid, just scaled up to fit.

Speaking of the moon...

This is the view from the asteroid's surface. It still needs some detail.

Added some detail to the surface, and (with some help from Kadri) the planet now has some nice, hazy clouds. :)
