Title: Fjord

Deforming height fields to the limits. The water was a killer to render, 15 hours for this scene. Thanks for the posters here for the inspiration!

Unusual and "twisted", yet still realistic rock formations. Nicely done. I would say you went "to the limit" but not past it, which is very good. :D

Why was the water a killer? Did you render at this size, for 15 hours?! That could be way reduced, unless you have a prehistoric machine. In this case the transparency of the water is of minor importance, so I would have set it at zero, perhaps only adding some transparency in the first 40 meters.

Dune, it was mostly the displaced water (surface layer with displacement and reflection) at the mouth of the fjord. It was sitting at that spot rendering for hours. I was too lazy to go in and analyze it too much, as the scene was already finished anyway. I am sure I could have brought render time down to 3-4 hours, it's a 2600k-chip based system after all :)

I really like the landforms and the erosion here.
