Title: Ground Fog?
Post by: rasteron on March 15, 2013, 11:00:20 PM
Hi guys,

Do you have any tips on how to set or create a ground fog? Where the haze horizon and the fog would be seamless as if there is no terrain and it covers all areas.

I'd suggest a very low density cloud with a Coverage Adjust (I suggest doing this in the Density Fractal on the Density tab). Experiment with the height and depth to get the effect you want. Remember that Cloud Depth is centered on the Cloud Height and extends both up and down from there, so a cloud of 1000 thickness at altitude 1000 (meters), will extend from 500 meters to 1500 meters from the ground. So for ground fog, you'd want the height to be at least tall enough to intersect the ground.

Hey, thanks again Oshyan!

I'm still having problems, getting this to work. Can you send a sample file for me to work on?

I'm not really sure what you're looking for, but here's what I threw together in a couple minutes. Not very attractive, but it's what I think of as "ground fog"...

Thanks Oshyan, looks ok. The fog only covers half of the ground part from the horizon but it will do!  :)
