Title: population over imported obj
Post by: trazor on March 26, 2013, 04:07:39 PM
Hi there,

I'm new to terragen. I've been trying to find how to add population over an imported obj file with no luck. Can anyone please explain me?

Thanks!

Hi trazor and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to say but you can't add a population to any object other than Terragen native objects (Planet, sphere and plane).

Hello cyphyr, thank you for your answer.

Honestly I was thinking it would be implemented, was basically my main reasons to start using Terragen. Hopefully they add this feature in a future, for now I will try other software alternatives.

Thanks again!

Hi there,

If the object you want to populate over is a landscape type model, or even a cliff face, then it can be done with a little workaround.
If it's an object such as a vehicle then this won't work.

In an application such as Zbrush, you can import a plane and project the high res res (or other object) onto the plane, and export a resulting displacement map, or even vector displacement.
