Title: How to load a ter file without simply adding to the Default Terrain?
Post by: cadmar on May 08, 2013, 08:53:33 PM
When you go Add Terrain/ Heightfield (load file), How do you replace the existing default terrain. When I load a ter file through this method, it appears to only add to the default terrain file that loads with Terragen 2. So, the ter file does not look as it did, in the program it was created in.

To be somewhat clear, I do not want to permanently  replace the default terrain.  I just want to setup & use the terrain from the ter file & not have it add itself to the default terrain.

Thanks

Rick

There are no stupid questions, but some questions are just a bit vague, and maybe hard to answer for some. Luckily, I'm here now  ::)

The default terrain isn't really something, is it? Just a globe. So when you load your ter it's on that globe, no problem. And if you have a generated terrain or fractal terrain, there's the flatten first button. Use it to have only your ter sticking out, or untick it to add it to the existing terrain.
Does that answer your question?

Thank you so much for your reply Dune. I really appreciate it.

That makes all the sense in the world. Now I see it.

Again Dune, Thank you!
