Where are you fellas? Summer is here, its time to render!

You know, Mike, I was just about to comment on how few people are actually posting something nice. I feel a bit abandoned, and tend to refrain from posting as well if it stays this way. Hardly any comments either, so what are we posting for? :(
I get the impression there are a few users who work (quite) professionally with TG, but never post a render. Too bad. We have to keep this forum alive and kicking, only answering some queries isn't enough.
I talked to DandelO. He said he was working on a few renders and would be posting when he can.
Haven't heard from Kadri in a while though.
I think that during the winter months we have more time for artwork and posting. But as spring rolls around our attention focuses on other pursuits. I've also noticed that work demands increase after the Christmas/New Year holidays, and steadily build until the summer months, when vacation season starts.
I was also wondering what had happened to some of the other guys who used to post here.

I especially wonder about ob as he's always been so active in the Terragen community, not just here but over at Ashundar as well.
My sense from moodflow was that he just did not have time enough anymore. I know he has a family in addition to work.
I have a lot of his renders in my Tg reference folder.
I read a lot of posts by child@play whenever I search the forums. He was gone when I got here though.
Dont know to much about the others you mentioned. But I think I have seen some renders with their names on em.
There are still a lot of good people around too! But yeah, it would be nice if some of the ground breakers would come back and show us some new stuff.
i'm friends with Kadri on FB, if anybody hasnt already spoken to him ill send him a message.
i can think of two others... mainly from the comments they gave me.
MacGyver

There's always attrition. The question is are new users coming here, posting their work and actively participating? I am not sure they are in sufficient numbers. The off-topic discussions seem to generate more interest than the actual render posting, which seems odd.
As for me, I am still recovering from the contest and need to regain some energy. :) Being swamped at work does not help either, of course...
Attrition is a major factor, but skill level may also have a play for some, take me for example, dispite being a member for several years, my skill level and knowledge is not that high. never realized what the sss was capable of thus I did not enter the road contest. but this is a defect easily fixed. a review of the notes Dune kindly gave us has helped along with some help from others. so i think his is just an individual issue. as members get better they (I) will contribute more. the contest was great in that it high lighted a part of the program only a few has used a lot. i never would looked into it if not for the contest, perhaps that is a way to increase skill levels, by focusing on another part of tg....just my little rant
as an aside we have 3 forum members in denver colo - a lot for a world wide program
folder
Quotebut skill level may also have a play for some
But that's the whole point of this forum, isn't it? Even if you lack 'sufficient' skill, here's the place to get advice! As for me, I'd like to see some really good (professional) renders, and raise my own ambition for better stuff and new ideas. Or is there no excellence out there, or will they just not post?

I am curious about that too, actually.
Come on pro's etc....show yourselves!
Hi guys!
Lane contacted me about this thread.
Thanks Michael.
I decided to stay a little bit away from the digital world .
This and 2 other forums and Facebook was a little too much for me in the end.
I wonder how some other guys can handle more then those really.
Together with my little sentimental-touchy(?)attitude and some basic forum incidents i felt that i should get a little rest.
Not to encourage you for not posting but i feel less pressure on me since i stopped to post everywhere like in duty.
Maybe my posts will be much less but some of you probably had kinda the same progress here or there.
Nothing serious as it sounds and i will make new images in the end again and post them here for sure.
And i am curious about the others too that do not post much anymore.
Cheers.
Besides the NWDA competition, I haven't posted in a long time. I just ran into a period where all my images looked the same to me and I became unmotivated. The good news is that the terragen 'itch' is coming back and hopefully more images will follow shortly.
Yes, that's what we need, the Terragen Itch coming back. Let's sow some Magic Itching Powder :D
It takes me about two months per image! but I try and post as much as I feel able and have something to say. Also I hate typing :(
"Still alive!" - To quote Logen Ninefingers. Got some pic's to post, if I can be bothered sticking them in my phone to upload at some point. Cheers, Michael. :)
Like otakar, I've taken an hiatus after the contest in order to build some renewed focus and inspirations. Like mhaze, my projects take me a couple of weeks and usually longer.
Then, there is the springtime cleanup around my house, renewing the desert landscape (my second hobby). This is ongoing for me from February through May. Getting older, I move like a heard of turtles.
Good to know you're alive and kicking, guys!
;D
Get some more people back, guys!
Old_Blaggard is busy with initial post-education career building stuff, I think. I still talk to him from time to time off the forums, and I do hope he'll have time for TG and be back again at some point, even in limited capacity. A very creative fellow with some unique solutions to problems.
- Oshyan
I was beginning to wonder where you had gone too, Oshyan. Had a missing persons post already to go.
Oshyan has been on a well deserved holiday and is very busy with something ;)
Learning a few new tricks in Terragen, so I have something nice to post...
Well I'm still here though no longer querying about when the free version will be released...still trying to come to grips with the Full Power of the Full Version. I keep finding reasons to abort renders at about 8-9 hours after an overnight when I see something I didn't see when doing early tests...sigh...it's a trade off tween resolution/size and render time and I have had a few minor successes but nada worthy of posting here as yet.....
About time Bobby! Happy rendering!
