Title: Procedural Storms (Hurricanes)?
Post by: Pentagular Dark on June 17, 2013, 09:22:58 PM
Okay, I know that you can make image maps for these sorts of from-space hurricanes. But this is tedious and boring. So I ask, is there a way in Terragen to procedurally generate storms/hurricanes? I am guessing there is a way to do so in functions fairly easily, but quite frankly, I have no idea how to use them, and they scare me.

I think it might be best to wait for Terragen 3's Vortex Shader. That is what you want. Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Wall Cloud Super Cells, Roll Clouds and quite possibly global scale ideas come to mind.

If I am anything, I am impatient.

NVSeal & Freelancah have been messing with orbital shots of hurricanes for a few years now. If you can't wait for the Terragen 3 check out some posts by them.

There was a lot of interest in this in the early days. It gets a bit off topic towards the end but you might want to look at this thread:
