Title: Shrooms
Post by: yossam on August 29, 2013, 12:38:08 AM
Finally got around to unzipping Michaels' mushrooms................I know that there are some errant grass populations, should be easy enough to fix.

What else, before I do another render................... ;D

Nothin like mushroom gravy.

I would be tempted to make the surrounding grasses smaller; much smaller. Shrooms like to grow in the shade. Maybe some trees and bushes and rocks?

probably the best thing to do is open each plant in a default scene and get it looking perfect, then save out a new tgo.
To me it looks like the BW-displacment maps are on one of the models. And the red ones look like there missing any texture on the stems...

You use two of the shrooms that I never used my self. Will be interesting to see how you make them work.

Dont be afraid to edit the textures or the geo, I wont be offended.

What I found when I was playing with them is in nearly every case (that I tried) they always looked better in groupings.

I think you got the big red one on the left to look real good. I can see the orange in it! I was never able to get that to come through very well. In fact in nature those shrooms often do have a strong orange hue as you have done... It may have been the lighting I was using, Im not sure. Anyway, it looks good.

^^ The big red one on the left looks really good if you scale up in the Y a little. I love the look even more than the original. (I think it was that model) Anyway, the big red ones stretch in the Y really really well. You can get 3-4 more variantss out of that one model by stretching up in the Y.

Nice models!  I like the rocks too... something I'm always struggling with :/

The rocks are using a hi-res image map with a PF(no color) driving the displacement. I'll post the site when I find the link again............forgot to bookmark.  ::)

Mowed the grass, converted the shrooms to tgo(which reduced the file size by about 25%), and changed the lighting.

This is 110% better; nice job, and with the lighting too.

I always post a WIP first.............it may be decent, but I can always get good advice on how to make it better. That is one thing that I really enjoy about this forum.  8)

I favor this one. Good composition along with some interesting boulders. Very nice.

Thanks a lot Yossam  :)

I could use these. With the informations on the page, i understand why it didn't work. I don't have a modeling program
and don't know how to use for opening wings.

I'll include them in future projects  ;)
