Title: Forested
Post by: EoinArmstrong on September 12, 2013, 07:56:32 AM
Back from holiday; took a week to assemble this, and while I'm pleased about the terrain detail, I've become impatient about the composition.

WM terrain originally; with added T3 bells (does anyone know how to make the strata shader work correctly with a distribution shader?  Grrr!).  A couple of XFrog pops - love the new colour variance function :)

Hi Eoin

Check the attached tgd illustrating how you get the Distribution shader to er distribute the strata.
Some settings to note: Distribution Shader coverage 0.5, Fractal Breakup 1.
In the Fractal Breakup power fractal check my Scale and Colour settings. Note no warping applied, and Buoyancy of Variation set to 0 to keep the black/white (strata/no-strata) shading from being distorted.
Hope this helps.

John

Hey there.  Thanks for that.  I should have been more clear.  What I mean was that it didn't obey the world coordinate system, so masking by height and slope was tricky.  Anyways, I had a brainwave last night, and tested it just now.  Slip a Compute Terrain in before the Strata shader and you're golden... so many of you probably already know this! lol :)

I love the basic shapes here. For me I just wish they were smaller... Don't really know why, just want to see them smaller.
