I thought it was real until I realized I was laughing. I would normally not have a giggle at these topics, so thats what tipped me off.
By the time I started reading the comments below the article I was laughing so hard I thought I would burst. People would get so into the ideas in the story that they would post before investigating the site. Read the comments.
Anyway, I thought the drug one was more topical for most people. But the cat one is much more funny... Albeit a little gruesome.
For a while there I wasn't sure, I've been reading 'Creationism.net' for a laugh this last couple of days, so I know there are actual serious people out there writing equally, if not more, ridiculous information!
And also, when I viewed the above link it was formatted for quick mobile viewing so all I saw was the text, no silly pictures of Sarah Palin, and I didn't go looking around for any more stories either. That's my excuse! :D

I don't think it's a spoof. I just took it as an article written by someone with a strong bias in a publication with the same bias. The author obviously overlooks the many well-documented counters to his argument but his point is well taken. I have seen much of the same kind of pro-marijuana propaganda but I'm not inclined to choose this as one of my battlegrounds.
Pablo, many of the writers on the site are from "the daily show" and The Colbert Report", there are a number of other well known humorists and satirists there. It is a kind of "onion".
