Very good work Lyla. You might consider eliminating the gull groups (the three upper right and the group that is low to the ground). Also, the vegetation that appears between the barn and the bare tree - I think your composition would look better without it. Give these things a try and see what you think.

All the other elements look great.

overall I like this. You've managed to get that "old farm" look to it. (Much like the one I use to work on as a kid). There are some grasses behind and left of the barn that are huge.

Yes, a good start. I would cover the ground with a lot of internal grass (with some color variation), and/or bleach the ground until lighter sand color, make it fresher. Some rocks near shore. Loose a lot of the gulls!

Will do a re-work and see what happens.
Thanks for the comments.

Lightened the dirt.  Added a bit of grass.  I tried adding lots of grass but that took away from the look I wanted.  Changed the trees on the left side but kept some.  Deleted the large weeds.  Redistributed the flowers and the reeds a little.  Took away some of the gulls.  Made the ones in the front a little smaller.

The only thing I really like better in the second image is the deletion of some of the gulls and making them smaller.  If you have ever been around a pond and have seen the number of birds that come circling in......you know that there are tons of them.  But I agree that deleting some of them helps the image.

Thanks for all your input.  Appreciated.

I worked on a farm when I was a kid and that's pretty much how I recall the irrigation pond and one of the storage sheds!

This is a very good improvement.
