Title: Silver Birch
Post by: MGebhart on October 08, 2013, 09:57:02 AM
Silver Birch.

This tree came out pretty good as far as accuracy. Not too heavy on the Tris. I still would use it as a foreground tree.

Thanks Marc. Though I usually make my own trees, this one certainly looks nice, and I might be using it. I'll check out your licence..

WOW...another winner for sure. One query Marc...does the Normal image go in the Displacement  slot.....?

Here is a sample using the Normal Map vs Displacement.

Depending on the bark type (or pattern) you can determine the map that works best.

In the sample below, using the Normal map is a better fit for the Silver Birch bark. I set the Displacement value to .1 in this comparison. For a more natural look the displacement default value woks well. I jumped up the value so you can get a better comparison.
