Title: The Sportsman's Cabin

This will probably be the basis for several images I'm working on.
Cabin, canoes and bouy: Blender
Vegetation: Modied or my own xFrog creations.
Everything else: TG3

*** Note - I uploaded this from home.  But when viewing from my work PC the image seems a bit washed out.

A great start!
love the shore detail, and the pov/mood/atmo too... the cabin's textures are a bit repetitive, but some power fractal grunge, or even some ivy can help mask that maybe?
looks like a great spot!

I find the shore stones quite interesting, probably a pop of not too displaced stones? Smart. But I also like the whole setting. Maybe put some stuff in to avoid cleanliness, like some (dead) grasses among the stones, some broken branches, dirt overall.

Looking very good. Just add some elements to unclean the neatness. I really like the stone wall. The overall composition and lighting are super.

Have not had a lot of time to play with this.  mostly small changes. Thinned out the trees behind the cabin, Moved the camera closer, moved one canoe nearer the camera, added various bushes and shrubs around the yard, did some work on the roof.  The "trees" populating the background mountains are actually 18-sided spheres covered with 4 types of leaves.  To my eye they're as passable as the much-higher-memory tree models at that distance.  Still more to do though - need more crap laying about landscape (it's hard to make convincing crap  ;D  ) , the sunlight still seems too dim and I prefered the water texture I had in the original image.
Thanks for the input folks. Still more to do...eventually.

I agree about the water ............the distant "trees" look good to me, and probably not as memory intensive.


One thing.............the canoes look too big in relation to the cabin.  :)

Looking good. You might try the 'Landmark' object for reference when adjusting the scale of the canoes.

I think these canoes should be quite long. By the look of it, compared to the chair, I'd say about 6-7 meters. Not too large I'd say. But if you color the front one darker it'll appear smaller. The trees are very convincing, I have to make something like that as well. I do have some very LP trees consisting of 8 random planes with some leaves, but a sphere might work better.
And yes, crap is hard. You can't model too much crap at once, or it'll float. Procedural/internal crap is better. Maybe some tiny stones (pop) with irregular and rough displacement may do the trick. I did a population of fallen trees once with fake stones.
