Title: Matte Painting
Post by: Upon Infinity on November 27, 2013, 11:36:28 PM
Specifically digital.  What is it?  How is it made?  I've seen some samples online and they look awesome, but somehow they are shrouded in mystery.  To be fair I haven't researched it extensively yet.  Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Never mind that crazy price tag though, I don't know what thats about. Typing in his name and amazon in google was just the fastes way to get a pic of one of the DVDs
The series goes for about $50 each episode if I remember right.
There are three DVDs in the series. They are a great resource, I learned a ton from them. You can probably order from his site.

Also this http://www.amazon.com/The-Digital-Matte-Painting-Handbook/dp/0470922427 .
Good too. But the DVDs above are a lot more direct.

*edit
I just remembered that I bought them from the gnomon school http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/57/The-Techniques-of-Dylan-Cole-2#.Upb02aWLNms
I got all three in 2009 I think it was, maybe 2010. they are still great resources. The techniques are timeless I would say.

Dylan Cole is awesome.  He did a lot of Tron Legacy design work.
