Hope you folks had a nice Christmas,
I emailed Octane a couple weeks back asking if they were considering releasing a plugin for T3. Here was their reponse:
"Hi Mundus,
Thanks for writing to us.
Actually, Terragen 3 is not yet on our list but we are regularly assessing the feasibility of possible integrated plugins for future development. If Terragen 3 generates much interest this may end up in our list eventually.
Kind regards,
The OctaneRender Team"
Anyone interested? I'll email them the link to this thread if people reply. For those who have never heard of it, it's a GPU renderer with plugins for many 3D tools. http://render.otoy.com/features.php
Hi Mundus,
Anything is possible but TG3 is much different then the software Octane does support for now.
I would like to see if or how they implemented the support for TG3 and to see how it would work (how fast and qualty of renders, ram usage etc) .
More support for TG3 isn't anything to complain about .
Unfortunately Cuda is only for Nvidia users .
We have nearly only Ati cards here at home.
As far as I know Octane doesn't support displacement, so putting aside all the many issues of the completely different rendering methods, there would be no way to render a Terragen scene with equivalent detail with Octane. http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=37351&hilit=displacement

Nice Idea though, that a cottage industry (for lack of a better term now) may develop around Terragen. Once that happens, TG will be in everything!
I would very much like to see a greater Terragen product/service ecosystem in the future.

Thanks for your replies, it's worth a try though 8)

Thanks for your replies, it's worth a try though, as mentioned on this website (http://www.bedbugattorney.co).
I agree, go for it :)
Email sent, keep in mind it will take awhile to get on their list. But, if we get more interest posts in here the faster it may be. :)
Cheers
Kinda pointless if it doesn't support displacement in a program based around it don't you think?
I think we're all interested in faster render times...

Doesn't mean they won't support it in the future.
