Hello there,
i have a question regarding the population. In earlier Versions i could put in the amount of a population. But in Terragen 3 i haven´t found any placeholder for the amount.
When i try to let´s say populate a Beech and just want 12 of them, this is not possible without having a formular for the amount.
I always get thousands of them.....
Any suggested solutions?
Regards
Peter
I don't think there's a difference between TG2 and TG3 in that respect; just use the spacing in combination with population area. Small area, big spacing: little trees. Or add a power fractal as mask for density, and seed a few times, and play with whiteness, offset and contrast.
Oh god! Really??? Why is this so complicated??? Why not entering an amount for the number of Trees.
But thank you for your answer :)
I´m messing arround with Terragen and get not the results i want in a quick way.
I dont get any photorealistic renders it always looks flat with no life and when i try to build up a scene i´ve to create tons of layers, shaders, but i´m not able to do that in the right way. Maybe this program is much to complicated for me :(
I want something like that:

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Ulco is right. And I should know, as most of my populations are artifacts left from the TG2TP. Still, it's not terribly complicated, and it's actually easier than in previous versions because we now have instance editing so you can delete and move individual instances. But recreating the image you supplied, would take a lot of technical skill and attention to detail. And those populations are probably masked, as well. But it's not just about populations, it's also about your models and their own quality and texturing.
