All different shades of green....................... :)
Its a good scene Yossam.
I want to ask about something I see in this render and many others now though. It seems, for lack of a better way to describe it, a little "scratchy"... I don't know how to say it better right now.
I see this a lot in peoples renders, and my own from time to time. THings don't look smooth. I don't mean the objects need to be smoothed, I mean the entire render has a kinda rawness to it.
does anyone see what I mean, and have a better way to describe it?! Is it the light its self (GI) not high enough? I don't know, It would help if someone sees what I mean and can describe it better.
Anyway, its a good scene.
It could be the filter I used............got another cooking with some adjustments. :)
Yup, lovely scene.
A beautiful place for a possible frog, taking a sunny break on top of one of those swimming leaves.. ;)

Michael, I believe I know what you mean.
I posted just a few pictures till yet, more to show something specific then "beauty" renders of whatever.
After posting my "Star Wars" fan-fun render (Darkwater Bay) I was wondering a bit about the huge quality loss, even it wasn't a HQ render with TG 3 Free back then.
I realized that my pictures already low JPEG quality and size got automatically recompressed by the forum/TG site itself (like vids uploaded to YT for saving traffic and space).
Shown was the old original size of the uploaded picture but downloadable and seeable are just the compressed versions it seems.
Richards pic is a good example: It shows the old, original size but if you download it the size, thus the quality, seems ~5 times that small.
I was asking about the perfect choice of uploading a render, but got no answere, I guess for full quality you have generally to upload your
picture somewhere else and then you have to link it.
I may lay totally wrong and I don't have to care about such things ATM, but I think this could be the reason in all, why some wonderfull
scenes are looking relative "filthy"..
Pls., may someone confirm this or enlighten me, us, ore the whole world, I don't want to die clueless somewhen! :-X
Im just glad you know what I meant.
A few changes.............
I've changed a setting which may improve image processing in the forums. Most of the time when I see this sort of thing I suspect it is due to one of two things though, either a "sharp" filter used in Terragen, or some higher-than-ideal post processed sharpening. Some people seem to sharpen their images just as a matter of habit. I suppose they like the look, but I for one really don't. The other possibility of course is low AA...

That looks better with respect to my original thought/question Yossam. So what did you do differently?
But now it looks a bit muddy/out of focus :-\ sorry.
Oshyan,
What did you change? What do we need to know to benefit form it? Or will it just be automatic thing that happens, and we need not think about it?
Automatic. I'd tell you if you needed to do something different, of course.

I just tried to upload another version just now..........."your attachment failed security checks. Contact the system administrator" :o
Heh, well... that would be why it was getting recompressed then. I disabled the recompression but apparently can't disable the security check. Try removing all meta data, if you can. If it still doesn't work then I'll have to re-enable that feature...
- Oshyan
No go............... :(
OK. I've re-enabled the re-encode then. Same potential problem as before, but at least it will let you post images. ;)

One mo' time...............
Thanks Oshyan.
I see what you mean, Michael, but in this case it's probably just the structure of the image; lots of crisscrossing stems and leaves, kinda rough clouds, and the water reflects that, so the whole image gets 'no rest'.
Very Nice. How did you get the pond scum in there? It's a nice detail
The pond scum is a surface layer with a PF in the color function slot. Both colors are two different shades of algae looking green. :)
The pond scum fits perfect and looks very natural to me.
Am I dreaming or is sitting now a little frog on that leaves!? Awesome, thank you! ;D
I aims to please.............you're welcome. :)
It looks super good! The only thing...I would not display it in my house...trying not to be offensive...its just not an interesting subject. It is an exceptional use of terregen...the water and plants are excellent but, the overall concept, balance and artistic influence is....well uninteresting....sorry! I'm being honest and I hope you are honest with me. A very good landscape and use of Terregen but, just not a winner. Art needs excitement....something different....a focal point...something everyone can have an emotional response too...that is art...this is art just not exceptional art in my humble and stupid opinion....keep on man!!!
Love Ya!!!
^^ I agree and I disagree. I don't think the subject is unworthy, I just think it is a very literal representation of the subject with not much time spent on Esthetics. And by Esthetics I don't mean just if something looks good or not. I mean Style, interpretation, statement and so on.
I find Yossam's images in general to be very straight forward and honest. (Which is not to say others are dishonest or something). Just simple natural landscapes. Something someone in my life is always telling me I should focus on.
Not arguing with Markal here. Just trying to participate in a broader discussion. I do agree that the image is unexciting, but thats what I think the value of it is. The second some wind is added (or the sense of a breeze), or a cinematic lens effect or anything like that, it would become an entirely different image. Personally. Im rather exhausted from exciting things. Thats what I focus on, thats whats in the movies and on TV and in the news. Thats why that someone I mentiond wants me to fucus on simpler things. But who can change?
In general I always hope to find more series when I look in the forums here. So where you start out with an image, get it great, and then go in and change the images feeling/emotion/idea, but not change whats in the render.
So take Yossam's image, and the next one its the same scene, but a storm is coming. Or its the same scene, but 20 years later and everything is dead... But then its not a simple landscape anymore.
Is this any better........................? :P
It is, but it would still be better if you add another object, IMO, like a duck nibbling between the reeds, or a water rail, or a lost rubber duck...
Final.................. :P
Good. Although a little dark on my monitor.
Echo U.I.
I really like the detail and plants...the ducks add a focal point especially since the male is tracking the female :)....ahhhh, now a story to the image. Much better and I agree a bit dark...still, much better art!!!
looks pretty natural to me. Still see a bit of blur from the compression though. But thats not your fault I know.
Actually, now that I'm home, it looks a lot better. One of the monitors must be off.
Another final................ :)
Wow, when you do a final-final it is a great one. I can see this one better and the birds are just the right touch. Love it.
Great finale, Yossam. A bit dark, I agree, but great birds and great focus now.
