Title: Dry Gully Panorama
Post by: RArcher on June 28, 2007, 10:01:40 PM
Here is my second panorama attempt. It was created out of 42, 800 x 600 images and covers the full 360 degrees both horizontally and vertically.  The panorama was stitched together with Hugin.

Half-size scaled down version:

Full-size version:

Half-size grayscale just for fun:

and finally, the QuickTime VR 360 Degree Video:

The attached image is a smaller version.

Thanks for looking and let me know what you think!

Whoaw,i like it alot!  ;D There is only 1 bad thing IMO, and that are the textures in the foreground, they are stretched out and it not that realistic :) But your sun, your clouds,i love it! Very nice :)

Beautiful scene.  Excellent textures.  Love the big blue sky.  Nice lighting.  Good job.

Very nice work!

This is how images should really exist.  The full 360 degrees.

Mavcat, the pixels are only stretched because they are 'spherically' mapped and thats how they display on a rectangular image.

The QTVR is a cylindrical projection (note distortion at the bottom) and should be a cubic. I extracted the image out of your full version and converted it to cubic QTVR using Panocube.

For static panoramas I remap the panorama to cylindrical which gives you a bit less distortion and a taller image. A vertical fov of around 120° usually looks pretty good.

Another one is 'gocubic', which is also free and very easy to use.
