Title: Tuscany (final)
Post by: Hannes on January 15, 2014, 06:28:02 AM
Back again after a long break. I had a serious computer fatigue and a lack of inspiration. I needed to do something with my hands without using a mouse, so I started to weave a chainmail shirt, which is quite tedious but nevertheless great fun to do.
Anyway here is a new image. I don't know if there's a place like this in the region of Tuscany, but to me it looked like there should be one ;).
Little postwork: resizing, saturation, chromatic aberration and a little sharpening.

Nice to see you back.
Never been in Tuscany. But it could be there.
Very nice view

Great image but it looks very dark on my monitor.

Looks nice,Hannes!
The only thing i would change is the over saturated blue of the van.

I'd drop the van... maybe another prop... a boat?
still, the rest is perfect!

Its great Hannes! But If that were my beach, I would chase those hippies off with a shot gun. Damn hippies!
Welcome back man!

Glad to see you back. The van is a little eye-catching................IMO it kinda lowers the greatness.  :)

Love the terrain and trees....the bus is a bit of a distraction but....I don't know, I could see me driving it there. :)

It could be Tuscany indeed, I like it. I agree about the blue van; you should drop it or tint it more carefully. What I do think is that that part of Italy often has very warm glowing light, and the shadows are too dark to represent 'real Tuscany', IMHO. Maybe if you add a warm overhead fill light and some very thin vapour you can get that magical light.

Thanks for your comments, guys. OK, I'll find something else instead of the transporter or tint it differently. No idea yet.
@inky: there is actually a (barely visible) boat.
@Ulco: great idea, I'll play with the lighting and some mist.
In this crop render the boat seems to stand on top of the water. Actually it's lying in the sand, but since there is a reflective layer on the sand to represent the wet area near the water's edge it looks a bit weird. Gotta fix that too.

I removed the hippies, the transporter and the boat. The sun has moved to the other side. No luck with some mist yet. I'll keep trying.

I live in Florence, so Tuscany, and yes, that is a plausible landscape for it :) Well done!

Oh great, Alessandro. I've never been there, so I had to rely on pictures.

Final image. I changed the lighting again and added some mist. I know it's a bit dark, but I like the mood.

How long does it takes to render Hannes?

This last one took 27 hours (2400px wide).

WOW! I did not expected so long Hannes. Thanks.

Well, it's especially the water and the mist (receive shadows from surfaces on) that made this image render that long.

Very good Hannes, almost missed this one. The wide format and contrasts really grab the eyes. I like this.
