Hello all,
I've been a member for some time now, quietly lurking about the forums in an effort to learn as much as I can. Well, at least enough to be able to create the project that I have in my head and get to a point where I can start asking questions that will actually make sense lol. My endeavor is to make an animated short film involving a character who goes flying through various worlds. I won't bore you with more details but I thought I would finally post a few of my test renders and other projects I've done along the long road of learning just to see if I'm on the right track or if I need to go back to the "books" :)
I've most recently been playing with the use of image maps, not just for texture but as masks as well. This render is a world that seems to be getting a little too close to its star. Its still a work in progress and I am more than open for suggestions and tips.
Here's a couple more I did after going through tutorials and downloading a few free to use models.
Very nice.
I like the island. Just the sun reflects too hard in the water i think.
Spaceport. Foreground cover could be improved and not sure about the lens flare.
Anyway there are great scenes
I like the island also...........wouldn't mind seeing the set-up for that. ;)

@yossam here's the island file. It exists as a result of going through the Geekatplay tutorials so most creds must go to them. I will say that I learned a great deal from those tutorials.
It has Xfrog plant populations so you may get errors on load and have to redirect the file directories, or use other plants if you don't have the Xfrog ones.

Sorry for the huge delay in getting back to the boards guys and thanks for the compliments. I did figure out a lot towards my animation video and I am still working on it, however I have been sidetracked by too many other projects that pay money :)
