Title: Avaris Egypt 1450BC
Post by: dorianvan on January 30, 2014, 12:01:42 PM
This is an image from an upcoming documentary we did the animation for. Three of us worked on it, including The Incredible Ulco (Dune).

Very well done.
How did you do the variation of roughness on the water?

Thanks everybody for the kind comments, especially when you are all more "seasoned" than I at Terragen. @Kadri, the third is a 3D Max guy who's worked with me for almost 10 years doing modeling and animation. @Aerometrex, nothing special; water shader has waves of .006/.18/.1; wind patch of 4/1/5

The documentary trailer is here: http://www.patternsofevidence.com/en/

Looks very interesting.............do you have a release date? And I hope to see more of your animation in the film.  :)

Absolutely fascinating! ! And a subject worthy of a film.

I just hope the experts are respectful to the positions of each other. As an American I am growing a little tired of all the bitterness when people don't agree with one another on important and meaningful things. ITs pretty rough in this country right now... But I guess not as bad a egypt and the rest of middle east :o

Anyway, I cannot wait to see this! I am sure I will learn a ton from both sides. And it looks like a really serious discussion on a topic that I find so meaningful and fascinating, truly! Im quite jealous of your participation in this project, you guys must be very proud!  :) So many people will want to see this and talk/argue about what they learn. How fun!

@Oshyan, we worked on 86 shots for the film. Some Terragen, some 3D Max, some both. They wanted a lot more animation around this island, but rendering time was an issue. By the way, I wouldn't have wanted to attempt this without Terragen.
@Otakar, I will post more images here soon, and I'll put together a demo reel.
@anybody who wants to see the film, I'll let you know here when/how the film is released.

I have an update on the movie; it will be playing in theaters around the country on January 19th for one night only. Many of our shots used Terragen, thanks again to Ulco. Here's the link to watch the trailer and to get your tickets www.patternsofevidence.com

KUDOs to the "Incredible Trio" for getting Terragen once more to the front. Is there a list somewhere of where it will be playing....Up here in the Frozen North (-29 C. this A M) we tend to miss a lot of the good stuff that happens South of us.

Thanks, nope not Alaska, Winnipeg Manitoba Canada...just above N. Dakota. We went over night, from above seasonal normals by a few degrees to well below normal, and my system (physical not digital) is in shock.

Sadly it seems to be Ameri-Centric. No other country gets to see it till it gets to piratebay or the like I guess. All U S A cities listed and I can't go down there. Sigh.

I know what you mean. I wanted to see a live Keane concert that was in theaters around the world, except the US of course. Anyway, I believe that not too long after the movie plays that a book/DVD will be released; as well as being available on Amazon or Netflix for watching. I'll let you know when I find out more.

Anything Egyptian I am all over. I have heritage and just a common interest since I was a child. Definitely going to have to check this out. I am definitely interested, I talk a lot on Facebook with professors and archaeologists and it's good to be in the know on upcoming stuff.

I wonder if it might be available through my Library.

Me too Wassasquach. Here's a still shot from the film. You can see the pyramid of Senusret II at el-Lahun, the Fayoum reservoir is a sliver at the top, and the pyramid town.
