I wonder why do Terrans always depict aliens as evil, bloodthirsty creatures that are bent on destruction. What if they are humans just like us?

I think any aliens that get to earth (no matter how) will be on micro level (like the virus they thawed in Siberia), and you won't even see them attack. Boring movie, just people getting ill and dying.
